I like paying for music. I tend to listen to musicians who aren’t millionaires, nor are they on super-mega record labels, so it feels good to support talented artists in a tangible way. I like the idea that my purchase pokes a chad somewhere as one more vote for great music.
Thanks to the internet, it’s ridiculously easy for bands to offer their recorded music for sale with little or no overhead cost. Plus, you can often sample the entire uncut album or EP online before deciding to purchase with a secure Paypal account. That means discovery is easier and risk is nonexistent.
This year, a number of local bands and musicians have released albums and EPs available for purchase and download online. Here are a few.
